Through my time at John Carroll I have changed in many ways. One of my most advanced changes is my progression as a leader. Early on my view of leadership was very rigid and hierarchical. Leadership to me was a label, a status you earned. I learned and tried many different styles but, my most natural and easiest way to lead is through servant leadership and by example. My leadership philosophy adopts the servant leadership style by sharing power and letting others add valuable input that I may not have thought of. One of my personal goals when I am leading a team, an individual or a single person is to help develop them to the best of their ability any way possible.

Helping others perform to a level they never believed to be possible or to help them tap a source of passion that they never knew they had is an amazing feeling. My idea of being a strong leader has done a 180 now it is me directing and serving my people opposed to telling them what to do from a podium. When I am working within an organization or a team of any sort my goal is to make sure everyone is hitting their personal goals and then some more. To make sure their voices are heard, action is taken and results can be seen. When someone feels valued and that their making a difference they are more inclined to always put their best work forward, to stay another hour without realizing it, and to have more loyalty in the process.
